Here's how we got engaged

"I was extremely shocked whenever Derek asked me to marry him. We had been talking about our future together for some time, but I didn't know it would happen when it did. I told him about my dream engagement ring and he made it happen. It's so beautiful, and I couldn't imagine a more perfect ring to reflect the love we have for each other. We were on a Disney cruise with my family, and the night he proposed was formal night on the ship so we were all very dressed up. The cruise director chose a few children to interview on the red carpet for the big show (in front of EVERYONE on the ship) and my cousin happened to be one of them. Derek and I joined Madison on the red carpet, and as the cruise director asked Madison some questions about Cinderella and Prince Charming, Derek got on one knee and asked me to marry him on camera. It was really neat because it was on the second day of the cruise, it was broadcasted around the ship and everyone congratulated us for the remainder of the cruise! It was perfect!"

Here's how we met

"Derek and I met on February 10, 2010 in Fayetteville while I was still in school. We both attended a birthday party at a pizza restaurant and were both instantly attracted to each other. It wasn't until Valentine's that he asked me out on our first date."

Our best date

"I think we realized that we were meant for each other on our first date. It was on February 16, 2010, and he took me to Pesto Cafe in Fayetteville. We instantly hit it off and it wasn't long after that I knew I was in love with this man."
